Berwald watched the poor girl being bullied from afar, knowing full well he could intervene and stop it. However, the very person causing the torment was Mathias, who held the whole school as if it was a puppet show. He never did the actual tormenting, he just pushed it. [Name], however, was obviously a special exception.

The two had dated last year, but broke away after she discovered he was cheating on her. In a burst of anger, she broke it off and ran off to Berwald's. Taking this as she loved Berwald much more then him, he accused her of cheating on him. His fangirls devoured the news and went after her with a burning vengeance. They even assaulted her, in ways more then one. It saddened him.

"Sve?" Berwald glanced down to his Finnish friend, Tino. "What's up?"

"Just...nothing." Berwald wasn't in the mood to speak. He walked away solemnly only to run into the Dane.

"HEY BERWALLLLD! Did you see that poor chick over there?" Silence. Matthias looked at him oddly. "Did ya?" He asked. Berwald nodded only faintly. "I would help but..." He chuckled, causing Berwald to turn away. He loathed Matthias, but kept it to himself. "So, wanna go out drinking?"

"Can't. Tutoring." Although not always true, Matthias usually bought it. After all, Berwald was a straight A student so people would come up to him for help (usually forced by the teacher).

"Allllrighty then!" He pranced off, earning a glare from Berwald. Quickly surrounded by his fangirls, Berwald hated that kind of attention. It was just mindless.

That night, he was awoken by a tapping on his window. Getting up, he saw a shape sitting at the balcony, tapping the window. It was [Name] and it looked like she was crying. His parents were out of town for the week, returning next Monday. Today was Wendsday and tomorrow was a Late Start, allowing students an extra hour of sleep. Seeing no harm in it, he got out of bed and went to the door. Opening it, he knelt down to her.

"[Name]?" He asked, taking her hands. He noticed her wrists, red but not bleeding thankfully. "[Name]? Wha-" He was cut off by her hugging him tightly.

"I can't take it anymore Berwald! I can't!" She sobbed. "It hurts so badly! The taunts, the jabs, the bullying, I can't take it anymore!" Berwald gently rubbed her back as she sobbed into his chest. "I want to end it yet...I can't bring myself to end it. Kill me, Berwald. Take me out of my misery!"

"No." He said softly, in the deep voice of his. She glanced up, her eyes pleading for an answer. "It gets better. I promise."

"I can't. Matthias will follow me everywhere I go, reminding me. Tormenting me." She whispered. He picked her up, laying her on his bed. Laying down beside her, he held her close.

"Not if I'm here." He whispered before he began to sing. It was soft but his voice seemed lullaby-like.

Listening to him, her eyes slowly began to flutter closed. The Swede, smiling softly knowing that he had done well, closed his eyes. She would sleep easy tonight.

A few days later...

"HEY! SKANK!" Came a taunt she heard all the time. She turned, not out of fear but with a new-found confidence. "Who did ya sleep with this time?"

"I think the question is better directed towards you!" She retorted. The girl gasped as she laughed, walking towards her new boyfriend, Berwald. "I really need to thank you. You were right, it does get better." He just smiled softly.
